CPAs, serving as trusted advisers to their clients, are often asked about how to mitigate the liability associated with owning rural land. Farm and ranch properties can be a great blessing for family enjoyment and for investment for income and/or appreciation. However, they can impose significant ownership and management responsibilities and costs. This talk will focus on ways to create more value in rural land, reduce taxes, and mitigate the risk of liability to ensure that the family farm or ranch is a legacy, and never a liability.
