On August 6th and 8th, Sharyland Utilities, L.P. will be hosting a public open house for landowners to learn more about the 345kV transmission line project, GSEC to White River, that they are planning to build through parts of Hale and Floyd Counties, TX.

These public meetings will be in open house format with no formal presentation so you may come and go as you please during the scheduled 3-hour meetings. According to the letter that went out to all potentially affected landowners, the purpose of these meetings will be to share information about the current route alternatives (including maps of these various route options), and to seek input from those that could be affected.
This new transmission line will connect the Golden Spread Electric Cooperative (GSEC) Interconnect, a new gas-fueled electric generation facility, which is located approximately 1.6 miles northeast of Abernathy, to the new Sharyland Midpoint Substation which will be located approximately 9.6 miles east-northeast of Floydada.
The final line will be a combination of steel lattice and monopole towers, 140-160 ft. tall, 175 ft. wide, and extend approximately 55 miles.
Although this line is currently in the ‘study’ phase, and a Certificate of Convenience and Necessity (CCN) has not yet been filed with the Public Utilities Commission, we expect for this line to move quickly so feel free to check back here or give us a call to stay up to date on the latest developments related to this project.
