The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Corpus Christi District is proposing to improve Farm-to-Market (FM) 893 (Moore Avenue) from County Road (CR) 3685 (Stark Road) to 0.20 miles west of CR 79 in San Partricio County. The proposed project is approximately 1.4 miles long and is located on the west side of the City of Portland.
The proposed project would upgrade the roadway from two 12-ft travel lanes with 3-ft shoulders to a five lane section with curb and gutter including two 12-ft travel lanes in each direction, a 14-ft continuous center turn lane, and pedestrian facilities on either side of the roadway. Pedestrian facilities would include a 10-ft shared use path on the north side of the roadway and sections of 5-ft sidewalk connected to sections of 10-ft shared use path on the south side of the roadway. Additional right-of-way (ROW) would be required for the proposed project.
Texas has been aggressively acquiring private land through condemnation for transportation projects across the state to accommodate the needs of a growing population. If you have been contacted by TxDOT or any of their representatives, please contact us immediately. The important thing to remember is that even if you’ve received a letter in the mail from a condemnation entity informing you of their intentions, this does not mean that it’s a done deal. There are many ways to influence the condemnation process to ensure that your wants and needs are met, but it’s important that you involve knowledgeable professionals that can help guide you through the process.
