About Nathan

Nathan Yates has over 20 years of experience in energy and real estate, representing both surface and subsurface property owners, along with in-house development and leasing experience with energy companies. His breadth of practice spans renewable energy, including wind, solar, and battery storage, covering leases, purchase options, and surface use agreements. He also has extensive experience in oil and gas leasing, title curative matters, pipeline right-of-way negotiations, and general real estate transactions.

Over the past eight years, Nathan has developed wind, solar, and battery energy projects in-house with independent power producers. He has also spent the last two decades negotiating oil, gas, and water pipeline right-of-ways and leases.

Additionally, Yates has represented landowners in successful negotiations and transactions, including the sale of development acreage to Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., where he negotiated an Easements, Covenants, and Restrictions Agreement to allow the landowners to retain adjacent acreage. He also represented a property owner in the successful sale of a commercial lot to Dollar General Corporation.

Yates is a sixth-generation Texas landowner whose ancestors settled in Texas over 180 years ago. His core values and strengths lie in thoroughly evaluating all aspects of a situation to deliver pragmatic, thoughtful, and often creative solutions. He applies this approach to help landowners, both large and small, assess the best use of their property and resources, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to make informed decisions about their valuable assets.

In his free time, Yates enjoys spending time with his wife and two young daughters, hiking, skiing, and traveling to explore Texas, the country, and the world as much as possible.
