Overview

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is proposing improvements to State Highway (SH) 121 from south of Farm-to-Market Road (FM) 455 (just north of Collin County Outer Loop) to County Road (CR) 635 in Collin County, Texas.

The length of the SH 121 proposed widening improvement project is approximately 11.442 miles. The proposed project would require approximately 168 acres of additional right-of-way. Three residential and one structure (barn) property displacements would be required for this project.

Proposed Improvements

The proposed SH 121 improvements would include:

  • Reconstructing and widening the existing two-lane undivided roadway facility to a rural four-lane divided highway (two lanes in each direction) consisting of 12-ft wide travel lanes
  • A 10-ft wide outside shoulders, and a 4-ft wide inside shoulders
  • A 40-ft wide grass median, with grass-lined ditches, and discontinuous frontage roads
  • Grade separated intersections are proposed at FM 455 and FM 2862

Texas has been aggressively acquiring private land through condemnation for transportation projects across the state to accommodate the needs of a growing population. If you have been contacted by TxDOT or any of their representatives, please contact us immediately. The important thing to remember is that even if you’ve received a letter in the mail from a condemnation entity informing you of their intentions, this does not mean that it’s a done deal. There are many ways to influence the condemnation process to ensure that your wants and needs are met, but it’s important that you involve knowledgeable professionals that can help guide you through the process.
