SH 31 Road Project Overview

TxDOT is planning to expand State Highway 31, extending from Loop 323 in Tyler eastward to FM 1639 in Gregg County. The project involves widening the current two-lane road into a four-lane divided highway, incorporating both flush and depressed medians to enhance safety along the route.

Proposed Improvements:

• Widening from a two-lane roadway to a four-lane highway with flush and depressed medians
• Redesigning the roadway’s alignments to meet current design standards
• The addition of curb and gutter in the urbanized areas

Anticipated Next Steps:

• Subject to final design considerations, right-of-way acquisitions are ongoing.
• Funding for construction is not yet identified
